Repeating Events

Two related questions.

1. I entered an event to appear every other Wednesday. This works well for the 2010 calendar, but the event shifts to Thursdays in 2011, and Fridays in 2012. Any way of making such events perpetual without annual editing?

2. How does one remove an individual day label, either an annual or a repeating one, without removing ALL day labels?
